FIRST COMMAND TO THE BELIEVERS

25 Mar

O ye who believe, say not (unto the Prophet): “Listen to us” but say “Look upon us,” and be ye listeners.(2:104)

  • This is the first verse to directly address the believers in the Quran.
  • It is sandwiched between two verses mentioning goodness (this word is also repeated three times in the next six verses).
  • It is as if Allah SWT is saying, the first and the most important thing you need to know about Me is that I always want good for you.
  • The greatest source for attaining good is implied: controlling the tounge.
  • Prophet SAW said, “Wonderful are the affairs of a believer for there is good in every affair of his. And this does not apply to anyone except the believer.” (Muslim)
  • Fudaayl ibn ‘iyaad RA saw a man complaining of his problems to another man.. So Fudaayl RA said, are you complaining about the One who has mercy on you to the one who will not have mercy on you.
