3- What I follow

3 Mar

O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah if it is [indeed] Him that you worship. [2:172]

  • In the previous ayats, Allah SWT invited mankind to follow the Shariah, and they rejected it. Now, Allah addresses the believers.
  • This word includes that which is good for the body, soul and intellent [Ibn Tammiyah].
  • After eating what should we do? Thank Allah! Prophet SAW said, whoever recites this duaa [click 180] after eating, Allah will forgive his sins [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood; authentic].
  • How do we thank Allah? By worshipping Him (our energy — i.e. food — should be used for this). This is as sign of a sincere acknolwedgement of the blessings of  Allah.

Its in Riyadh us Salheen under the chapter of eating:

Mu`adh bin Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “He who has taken food and says at the end: `Al-hamdu lillahi-lladhi at`amani hadha, wa razaqanihi min ghairi haulin minni wa la quwwatin (All praise is due to Allah Who has given me food to eat and provided it without any endeavour on my part or any power),’ all his past sins will be forgiven.”
    At-Tirmidh i].
