مَّاكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا وَيُنذِرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَدًا
In which they will remain forever. And to warn those who say, ” Allah has taken a son.” [18:3-4]
- This is the detail of the great reward mentioned in the previous ayah: they will abide in Janah forever– a promise of stability.
- One of the themes of this Surah is warning. This is the second warning mentioned; the first was general and this is specific.
- We learn the colossal consequences of this evil in the next Surah: The heavens are on the brink of being torn; the earth is about to split asunder; the mountains are on the verge of collapsing (19:90).
- A similar word is اخذ, which means to hold something; اتخذ is to cling to something tightly.
