يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِن مَّزِيدٍ
On the Day We will say to Hell, “Have you been filled?” and it will say, “Are there more?”[50:30]
- Why does Allah inform us about this question? The answer reveals that the fire will never be satisfied and will always want more.
- This preposition is called Min Az-ziada — the extra min. Its function is to emphasize, which alerts us to the insatiable appetite of Jahnum.
- From the Sunnah, we learn what happens after the answer: Allah SWT places His Foot over the fire [in a manner that befits His majesty] and the fire says, “enough! enough!” She will become full and its sides will come close to each other. [Bukhari]
- Prophet SAW said whoever recite this (another link) duaa with conviction, in the evening and dies, then they shall enter paradise (also applies to the morning). [Bukhari] The meaning of this hadith is that the individual is guaranteed Jannah in due course.
