And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count a favor of Allah , you could not enumerate it . Indeed, mankind is most unjust and ungrateful. [14:34]
- Niemah is a blessing of Allah. Allah did not use the plural: Ni’em or An’um. Effect: We cannot even place a value on one blessing of Allah, let alone all His blessings; imagine, if Allah took one blessing away from us.
- After mentioning our lack of appreciation and inability to count His favours, Allah mentions how we cannot thank Him duly.
- Allah praises Ibrahim AS for being thankful for some of the blessings whereas most of us do not thank Him for one blessing.
Dawud AS used to say in his duaa, “O Lord! How can I ever duly thank You, when my thanking is also a favor from You.” Allah answered, “Now, you have thanked Me sufficiently.” [Meaning: Acknowledging that we can never thank Him as He deserves.]
