الذين يؤمنون بالغيب ويقيمون الصلاة ومما رزقناهم ينفقون
Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them [2:3]
- Surah Baqarah explains Imaan which rests in the heart (internal). On the Day of Judgement, nothing will be accepted save a pure heart.
- If one has imaan and believes in the unseen, establishing Salaah (external) becomes easy. Secondly, Allah did not say they pray, rather establish, implying continuity and steadfastness.
- If you are establishing Salaah, spending becomes easy (community). What we have provided them implies they are not giving something they own; rather spending from what has been given.
- The “and” makes it necessary and not sufficient. If it was “or” then one act would be sufficient (negates the argument that belief is enough).
